Contact your administrator to request permission to use this product

Starting about 3 weeks ago, every time I attempt to use my AutoCAD LT 2018, I receive an error message when I open the program that states, "Contact your administrator to request permission to use this product. You can either enter a new Serial Number and then click Activate, or sign in as a different user after clicking the button below."

This program was registered to my company's software manager's account, however when this issue began, a user account was created for me and I received an update through Autodesk that my permissions have changed.

I was instructed by someone through Autodesk support to uninstall and reinstall the program by going to manage.autodesk.com, clicking on the drop-down menu beneath the AutoCAD LT software, and selecting the 'Install Now' option. I followed these steps and once the download was complete, when I opened the program, I was met with an error message that stated something along the lines of checking my internet connection. My internet connection was working so I tried re-opening the program and am now being met with the same "Contact your administrator for permission...," error message again.

Can anyone recommend how to resolve this issue so I can use my software?

I have Mircosoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, in case this info is needed.

Thank you!

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

Not sure why they told you to uninstall/reinstall..  Not necessary for the 2017 or 2018 product line..  Smiley Wink

Anyhow..  Review this article:  https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/article/113556

Hello @Anonymous,

The product is in your account, assigned properly to you as the user & assigned to a specific device. Please verify that you have tried or confirmed the following.

  1. The product is assigned to a specific device, you would need to contact the Account Administrator to allow this
  2. The Windows profile is set to standard user & needs to be changed to an Administrator
  3. Adjust Lan Settings & Proxy Settings, or try a different network location
  4. Sign-out of all Autodesk related products. Please try the following, How to sign out of the Autodesk Desktop app  & be sure to sign-in with the proper Autodesk ID & Password
  5. Whitelist the sites listed in these articles:

Problem solved, thanks to Autodesk's great support team! These were the steps that resolved my issue:

1.    Close any running Autodesk programs.

2.    Remove all files under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ADUT.

3.    Remove all files under C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ADUT.

4.    Go to C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet and delete all files that start with adskflex.

5. Delete the LGS file located in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\Product key_2018.0.0F

6. Delete the file _USRegInfo.htm with the product name and version located in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Adlm <username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Web Services delete the file LogState.xml

Hi Autodesk Admin,

I need the assistance with Activating AutoCAD LT for MAC. I have tried following steps mentioned on this post but it's not helping or I must have been doing something wrong.

I would really appreciate your assistance, as this is the Second time I have paid monthly fee and was unable to use the product.

Thank you,

Olivia
