Changing Product Keys

When transitioning from Design Suites to Industry Collections, is there a way to change the Product Key without having to uninstall & reinstall everything?  I've found information on changing the License through the About->Manage License function but that doesn't do anything with the Product Key and I can't use the IC license with a Design Suite Product Key.

Revit seems easy enough to fix based on this Knowledge Network post using the License.ini file but I'm stumped on changing ACA...  For ACA I saw the trick using the PIT file - is this still a reasonable method to do this or is there something a little more user friendly (I'm not an IT guy... deploying that change would suck)

Thanks

If you are talking about a single user subscription for the 2017 or 2018 version, just perform a license reset

Please note, folders of C:\Programdata and C:\Users\[Username]\Appdata (listed below) are hidden folders and you may need to adjust your viewing settings.

First make sure you're signed out of the desktop app and A360 (both are located in your Windows system tray

On your computer, navigate to

2017 Version: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\<Product_Key>_2017.0.0.F  [<Product Key> is the product key of the application you have]

2018 Version: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\<Product_Key>_2018.0.0.F  [<Product Key> is the product key of the application you have]

Delete the LGS.data file.
Navigate to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ folder
Delete the ADUT folder and it's contents

When you start the application, it will prompt you to choose one (that matches your license) of the following:

Login - 30 day trial or CLIC (Cloud Based) licenses
Serial Number - Students, Standalone and Single-User Term Based activation
Network - Network License server for obtaining licenses from a machine on your network

If you are talking about a multi-user subscription there's nothing that needs to be done except update your license file.

Hello @chadclary,

You can reset the licensing to force a reactivation on the software, by locating this information & deleting.

  1. Hard Reset of 2017 & Newer products
  2. The last resort is a Clean Uninstall of the product.

I gave Mark's method a go and didn't have much luck but after reading it over again just now I think I did something wrong.  I'm planning on looking into it more over the weekend when I'm not interrupting people's work day.  I'll let you know how it goes though Smiley Happy

I worked on this some over the weekend and the only way I was able to get it to completely reset to allow for the input of a new product key was a clean uninstall Smiley Frustrated  Probably annoyed the activation server as well since I tried a bunch of variables to get try and simplify when I roll over the other systems...

That said - an easier method to change the Product Key (serial numbers are easy) would be a big help.  I'll only need to change a few seats over, I can't imagine having to change 50+.

Hello @chadclary,

Thank you for returning to the community to let us know how this turned out. I understand this is frustrating, have you taken a look at this article making the switch from Suite to Collection

Unfortunately, there is no other option but to either copy the pit file or uninstall & create deployments for each product in the IC you wish to have installed.

Thank you.
