Cannot Install Low, Base, Medium Image Libraries, Material Library Not Installed

Good afternoon!  I've been working with a client and we were having some missing texture challenges with the Autodesk Material Libraries stored in the shared C:\ location.  We removed the offending libraries, based on this recommendation.  While we were able to successfully uninstall the libraries, we can only reinstall the Material Library 2018.  The others fail with an error message along the lines of "Missing the Material Library 2018, can't install without it", even though we have successfully installed that particular library.

The funny thing is Inventor is running just fine without the other libraries, so I'm wondering what they're used for?  I'm tempted to say "let's not worry about these other libraries", but I don't know what they do and if they're essential for something I'm not seeing? 

If anyone has any insights on if we should continue to try and install these other material libraries, or how to get around the installation hang up, I'd love to hear them.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and I'll answer them as best as I can.  Thanks in advance for any assistance, hope all is well and have a most blessed day!

Those material and appearance libraries are the ones that are shared by other Autodesk applications.  Inventor has its own material and appearance library as well  but may not have all the information related to the ones provided by the shared libraries.  Most likely the installation issue is due to what method you're using to download.

Thanks for the reply!  You are correct, the libraries are all based on Inventor, but (I imagine for consistency across programs) the textures are still being pulled from these shared libraries.  After repairing the main Material Library 2018, the textures seem to be fixed, so I'm not sure if we even need to invest any more time into figuring this out.

I used this article for the installation procedure, which had more detail than my previous link.  Worked just fine when I tried it on my computer (in fact removing the libraries and then trying to access the Inventor Appearance Browser, will actually cause a crash), but I cannot get it to work on the client computer.

@johnsonshiue do I need to worry about these other libraries for Inventor work?

Hi Pete,

Inventor Material Library is a subset of Autodesk Material/Appearance Library. These image libraries are essential to Autodesk Material/Appearance library. If you do not have them installed, The appearance may look wrong. Texture may be missing.

Yes, you do need to have them properly installed on your machine.
