Autodesk Genuine Service not found when installing revit 2021

A strange problem has occured trying to install Revit 2021 on my PC. Now we have installed 2021 on other PCs at my office, but for some reason this error only occurs on my PC.

It reads as follows: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Autodesk Genuine Service.msi' in the box below".

Now if I use the Browse button to find the location of this file, I get another error message: see included screenshot.

The installation files were downloaded from autodesks own website yesterday so it should be the latest update.

Yes, several. Revit 2018, 19 and 20 along with AutoCAD.

I'm not sure, but it is possible, that msi tries to "repair" an older version and so the current version msi file does not match.

Interesting, let me check this. Because I also create a deployment for Revit 2021 at the moment. And would not like to run into the same problem.

I can see that in the uninstall-window from my control panel there are two Autodesk Genuine Service installed. However I am unable to uninstall them.

You can't uninstall it if you have products installed.

Can you share a screenshot of the error?

Was this a deployment or a download direct installation?

Anti-virus and Firewall off during the installation attempt?

There is an image in the original post where you can see the error message. I'm not sure what deployment is, but I downloaded from the autodesk website. Tried both installation through browser, and downloading all installation files and installing that way. Same error.

I have no other firewall installed other than what comes with windows. No extra antivirus software either. I've also contacted the IT-firm we use for tech issues, but so far they are also a bit clueless as to what causes this.

For:

but so far they are also a bit clueless as to what causes this.

It could be something Permissions related and your IT needs to grant access ...

We're not set up like that. That is, they only handle communication with our servers. Where we store our projects, as well as email accounts etc. The computers themselfes are entirely controlled by us.

I have installed revit 2021 on several of other PCs we have. As recently as last week without this issue, so it seems like theres something going on with my PC alone.

Maybe try a different Windows Profile and test it ..

@torbjorn.stensrud

which version of the Autodesk Genuine Service do you have installed:

3.0.11 and 3.2.18 ?

And is it possible that the software was installed with different user accounts ?

I ask, because "out of the box" the Autodesk Genuine Service is a "per user" installation.

regards

Did you move your original installation ... or delete them from your C:\ or where ever you extracted them?

This tends to happen when updating / installing and something isn't there from before.

Try downloading Revit again and extracting to your C:Autodesk\Revit

I'm not entirely sure what was the problem, but I had two Autodesk Genuine Service installed. I uninstalled both and could then install Revit 2021 without any problems. However they could not be uninstalled the normal way, so I had to download a special software from microsoft in order do it.

As an afterthought I find it strange how Autodesk installs software on a PC which is not uninstallable by normal measures.

Autodesk Genuine Service is the last thing that deletes.

If there is still any Autodesk products at all on the PC it'll stay

Did you have order software and newer software on the PC?

Also, are you all set and installed now or still having issues?

Older autodesk software you mean? Yes I have revit 2018, 19 and 20 aswell as autocad 2017 if I recall correctly. I'm all set now. Uninstalling the two genuine service apps solved it.

Hello, so I had this error today (October 25th, 2021) about the service mobilewebservice.msi something along that line not being found at the AutoCAD 2021 educational software installation. Anyways long story short what I did to get my install working was I browsed to the folder of where AutoCAD was installing (C:\programfiles64....AutoCAD) and in there I found a folder eventually where the install was and more specifically it had the words WebMobile. After selecting that folder I clicked next on the installer and voila I'm now currently finishing the install!
