I recently installed Autodesk 3ds max 2018, everything installed perfectly fine. The app even opens up just fine. How ever, within seconds, the 3ds max program greys out and becomes unresponsive, I can not do anything in the program. I think one of the startup scripts fail to load and is not showing up. PLease help me

Welcome to the Community !

Sorry to hear you're having issues. If you're using Windows 10, the below online solution might help:

Hello @Anonymous and @Anonymous.,

Sorry to hear about the issue you are having @Anonymous.

I hope we can get this resolved!

It looks like a student version is being used, and there could be issues with 3ds Max connecting to Autodesk, or antivirus preventing 3ds Max from connecting.

But we can circle back around to that. Firstly, here are 5 common areas we need to confirm:
1/5

2018.4 update is applied (check version: Windows Control panel > Programs and Features)

Go to the Autodesk Accounts page or the Autodesk Desktop App and make sure that the latest update is applied.

2/5

License update is installed

License Service UpdateLicense Service Update

3/5

Graphics card is compatible. Please share the graphics card and driver version installed.

Example: Nvidia GTX1080. driver = 438.20

4/5

Install/Repair Microsoft Visual C++ libraries.

Use an 'all in one' like the one here LINK.

5/5

FLexNet service is running in Windows Services. Visual aid here LINK.

Please confirm and share your progress with us.

Many thanks.

Regards,

Thanks @raiden_xavier  for quick reply.
following are the info you need.
1.  yes Update 2018.4 is installed
2.  just updated my license service to latest one. please suggest how to check
3. my graphic card details are
    NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2070 = 27.21.14.6172
4.  I downloaded the librarys from the link you provided and installed
5. flexNet service is running. I checked.

. net frame work 4.8 installed. which comes with windows. I cant uninstall it and try older one. no option to uninstall.

Now additional info. it was working fine previously. but suddenly stopped working.
ENU deletion also tried.
I did rollback to restore point. but couldn't help.

if I check product information and license information. it shows this white.
same white screen i see when it tries to show welcome in beginning. I turned welcome screen OFF by editing 3dsmax INI file but still not able to run max properly.

Please advise further.

Hi @Anonymous,

Good to hear from you.

Thank you for the information.

You can check license server version in Control Panel > Programs and Features.

Net framework version should be fine.

The post is about hang/freeze at startup. I believe the startup welcome screen is a different issue and should be asked in a new post. This stops any cross-communication about this and the original issue, and keeps the post tidy for future visits in regards to issue > solution > close.

Is the issue of freeze/hang at startup still happening?

Happy to help with the white screen and any other issues in a separate post.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Regards,

Ok thanks.

I already created a separate post for this.
