Autodesk 3D max 2017 will not open

I tried opening 3D max 2017 but it won't open. I'll see the start up screen but then it closes within almost 2 or 5 seconds and it's not showing on my windows task manager. I tried repairing it and resinstalling it but it still won't open! Then I try to uninstall it and it would never uninstall.. Please help me!!

Sounds like you have some WIndows issue if you're unable to uninstall the application.   What is your OS?

If you have WIndows 7 or 8/8.1 run Microsoft Fixit.   With Fixit you have to run it for each application that needs to be uninstalled.

If you have Win 10 use the Microsoft Cleanup utility.

Both applications have links in my signature.   Once you have cleaned up your machine then review the verbiage below the line/above my signature and follow those steps to download and install your application.

It sounds like you don't have the proper Windows/User/registry permission on your machine if you can't run the Cleanup utility

Im having the same issue. The program will start , then I get an error message saying send report to Autodesk, THEN the program stage, screen whatever you call it opens then closes after about 2 seconds. I have uninstalled , reinstalled, installed now, downloaded now , the final result is the same. It closes due to 'software issue"

I'm having this problem as well with 2017. No response from autodesk. Running Windows 8.1 completely up to date. Installed max service packs still nothing. Anyone have a solution to this? FYI max 2016 works perfectly

Welcome to the community..

My first suggestion would be to make sure your video card driver is up to date.  Don't rely on Windows telling you.  Go directly to the vendor's web site.

Welcome to the community...

You say I'm having the same issue but then you state "all of my autodesk problems have started with this last update"..  Are you having a problem or not?

Anyhow is the Windows 10 updated based on the Anniversary version?  IF so it is recommended that you roll back this update.  It is causing a lot of issues in the Autodesk Community.

Yes I'm having a problem, when I try to start max 2017 the splash screen
pops up for a split second and dissapears. I stated the windows 10 update
because I was running max 2015 just fine prior to it and then suddenly it
stared crashing, so I decided to upgrade, now I'm having this issue.

Hello @Anonymous,

I see that some people have responded to this post with common issues. Please create a new post on the community home page.

Sorry for the issues you are experiencing with your 3ds Max 2017 software. There are several possible reasons the activation portion of the install crashed.

Please review the following:

- Make sure you have an updated graphics card driver

- Operating System has the latest updates

- Make sure you have the Visual C++ installed (C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_xxx_xxx_20xx_xxxxxx_Win_64bit_wi_en-US\3rdParty\x64\VCRedist) the folder will list them by year

Windows 10, 3ds Max 2017.

Same issue. Entirely up to date.

I launch the program, in under one second the splash screen makes a short blip on the screen and then nothing happens.

Hello @Anonymous,

Welcome to the forum! I understand you have recently installed 3ds Max 2017 on your computer and at launch, the splash screen appears then disappears.

- Make sure you have an updated graphics card driver

- Operating System has the latest updates applied

- If the above does not resolve the issue try to uninstall the product and downloaded via Autodesk Virtual Agent and install the product again

Please follow up with your progress! Smiley Happy
