AutoCAD on personal laptop

We have a new employee wanting to install AutoCAD on his personal laptop.  This is allowed because he has been assigned a seat.  My question is....if he does not work out with our company will he still be able to use the program even though he no longer has a seat?  Or...does the program become unusable even though it is downloaded onto his computer?

FWIW you have no control over what a user does with their personal laptop and the software on it away from work, unless and until you revoke the active subscription license in question of course from your Autodesk management account.

Unless this is some old legacy Autodesk software that you have not tied to an active paid Autodesk account, then you have no control at all.

You don't quite explain the details of the licensing you all use.

Thanks!  We have user assigned licenses.  We have 2 drafters.  Each has the ability to use the program on the PC at work and a laptop at home.  I am asking if he were to no longer work at the company and I removed him as a user.....would the program still work on his laptop?  I know I can't control what people do on their personal laptops, I am just wondering if the program will still work.  I know I have old computers at work with older versions that still work but are no longer supported.  We do not use these, but they still work.  I am not familiar with how the newer licenses/subscriptions work.  For all I know they spontaneously combust after a user is deleted. haha!  I am just curious.  I don't care if he has it or not after he is no longer a user.  I tried looking this up and have had no luck.  Everything always just puts me into a licensing forum with no answer to the the question I have.  I thought it was a simple question....but apparently not. 🐵

The answer you may have missed from my initial reply "..until you revoke the active subscription license in question of course from your Autodesk management account....".

OVERVIEW: Autodesk software requires a user to log into a valid license to use the software. If you unassign a license to a user, then there is no license, aka no use of your license to that software.

If you un-assign the seat to the user, even if he has installed the software, they will not be able to use it as after logging in, Autodesk License manager won't be able to locate a license.

Thanks! I guess that is my question. Do you HAVE to be logged in to use the software? That did not used to be the case.

Yes, now you need to sign-In to access the software's. So if you Un-Assign the Seat, it will not work for the user ho has installed AutoCAD on their personal computer.

Autodesk is all named user .. so Sign in Verification is needed.

However you can go about 30 days without the verification.
