AutoCAD Installation Error; "Aborted.(Error: 8)"

OK, I'm getting really frustrated. First impression with AutoDesk Inventor is not good. Getting this Error Message, see the postings, disabled my McAfee firewall, disbaled my On-Access Virus Scan, still no joy .... can't get past the "Aborted.(Error: 8)"

Will now read more postings to try and find the problem, then hope I can restore the stuff I'm turning off and messing with in my stable baseline setup.

Hello jchudy and welcome to the Autodesk community!

It looks like you're receiving Error 8 during installation. This is typically due to he download manager getting disconnected. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

Error 8 or Error 9 during install

I experienced the same error upon installing Autocad 2014 in my 64-bit laptop. I also did disabled my McAfee VirusScan Console and downloaded the installer using the recommended browser download but I still encounter the "Aborted Error: 8" error message. Kindly help. I badly need the application. Or maybe I can try older versions such as Autocad 2012, but I cannot find the installer in your site. Thank you very much.

Welcome to the community...

AutoCAD 2012 is a retired and unsupported product, so as a student you will not be able to get it.  In addition do you already have a 3 yr free license to AutoCAD 2014?  Students can only request the current release and 2 legacy releases so a 3 yr old license of 2014 should be close to expiring (or already has).   As long as you have an active 2014 student license serial #..

Then download and install per:

1. Access the Autodesk Virtual Agent (link is in my signature) and follow the download links to your product.
2. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
3. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
4. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
5. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
6. Follow the installation steps for your product

If you want the full recommended installation steps, click on the installation link in my signature.

Good luck on your installation.
