Autocad civil 3d 2017 activate button greyed out

Hi,

one of our users has AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017 installed. During install it accepted the licence key fine. But now every time the user opens the application, it wants to activate but the activate button is greyed out.

We have a Trustwave SWG web filter but all the URL's from the Autodesk KB have already been set to bypass the proxy and bypass authentication.

Does anyone have any idea on how to resolve this as our user currently can not use the software for which we purchased a 1 year subscription?

Thanks

Barry

@Anonymous a screenshot would be great. There's nothing to go off of except for a grayed out button.

You wouldn't have entered a serial number during the installation process because the 2017 version request this information during the first launch of the application. Please post a screenshot.

I think they meant during the first run of the app.  I will get a screenshot asap and will post this asap.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear about the issue. Would you mind private messaging me the serial number you are using and the name of the user? I will have a look into the account to see what is happening. Click on my screen name matthew.d and then on Send Private Message. I presume that the user may not have the correct permissions, such as the license not being assigned to them, thus they are getting prompted. Once you send it on over, I will get this all sorted for you and get them up and running. Apologies for any inconvenience.

You have a term based subscription and authorization is done through your Autodesk ID. At this point the application is not assigned to that given Autodesk ID/named account. Which means the contract manger for that subscription needs to log into their account, un-assign the product from their account and then assign it to this user's Autodesk ID. Do you know who the contract manager is for that subscription?

Hi Mark, thanks for the info, I have gone back to the user to ask for that information as I normally don't deal with this.  I'm "the web filter guy" who was getting the blame for this not working 🙂

Hi @Anonymous,

I just got back to you via private message. @Mark.Lancaster is correct, the licenses just need to be assigned to the users who are using them. Here is more on managing user access, which has to be performed by the contract manager in the user management section of the Autodesk Account.
