Autocad 2020 LT Licensing - Serial Key Error

Anonymous

I needed to upgrade one of my user's computer. I could not find the LT download without an email/user account. I used my company email to set up an account while troubleshooting for a different user a while back, so I used that same account to download the executable to install AutoCAD LT 2020 (The license does not specify an AutoCad LT version so I assumed 2020 was fine - "2 X AutoCAD LT Single User").

Here is the type of license I have -

" AutoCAD LT Commercial Product Subscription Renewal Single-user Annual Non - Specific Worldwide Windows "

The user was previously using Autocad LT 2017. We have 2 single user licenses (one of which is for this user). I was able to install Autocad LT 2020 successfully, but unable to find a place to activate it without logging in. I used the same login and was able to get to the activation window to pop-up. I chose the 'serial number' option and it seemed like it activated and it generated the html confirmation.

But I went to try and sign out of the program (user previously did not have to sign in) and it kicked me out saying the licensing was not set up. Subsequent attempts to activate it now say that I need to talk to my administrator to use the product, the serial key I entered is populated. If I exit out of that - it gives the "improperly setup" error and exits.

Is it as simple as resetting the license - I do not want to mess this up any further than it already is.

Any advice or help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I've attached two screen caps of the problems I run into.

If there is anymore information please let me know - I have reproduced the error on a separate computer. (like a freshly imaged computer)

Hi @Anonymous

Try the following:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Contact-your-administrator-to-request-permission-to-use-this-product.html

Reset the local license information if neither of above solutions work

If the error continues to occur after trying the above, follow these steps to reset the local license information:

Windows

  1. Close all running Autodesk programs.
  2. Sign out from the Autodesk desktop app.
  3. Go to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ and delete the ADUT folder.
  4. Go to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\ and delete the LGS folder.
  5. Go to C:\Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk and delete the ADUT folder.
  6. Go to C:\Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Web Services\ and delete the LoginState.xml file.
  7. Go to C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\ and delete the three files that begin with adskflex.

Hello,

The solution was to have the administrative account holder recover and sign into his account and assign the licenses to the user and have that user authenticate the license. It seems like LT 2020 is different than previous versions this way? In any case it was the first solution provided above.

So thanks for the help!
