AutoCAD 2017 imaging on Windows 10

I have created a deployment for AutoCAD Map 3D 2017 and Raster Design 2017 using a newly imaged Windows 10 computer.  The deployment runs properly and the programs are installed, but when I try to start the program I can't get past the initialization screen.  I've let it run for up to 3 hours with no progress.

The deployment installs the products and they run properly on our existing Windows 7 machines so it appears that there's a problem with AutoCAD running on Windows 10.  Are there any known issues with this configuration?

Thank You,

What I gather from the links in your reply is that AutoCAD 2017 products will not work on the Windows 10 platform because of their reliance on .NET FRAMEWORK 4.6.  Normally I would accept that explanation, but I undertook to install that product on my Windows 10 computer only to be informed that .NET FRAMEWORK 4.6 was already installed on the system.

So, who do I believe Microsoft or AutoDesk?

Hello @jleavitt,

Sorry to hear you are encountering issue with imaging software. My thought is that maybe the computer may not be identical to the original computer that the image was created on. The Windows registry settings and installed drivers for the master computer will be duplicated to every other computer.  If you restore an image to a computer with a different hardware configuration, you will have incompatibility issues which may or may not be solvable.

Please review the Imaging Software

Hello @jleavitt,

Have you tried installing the software directly from the install files Setup.exe?

If it works, the deployment may have been the issue. If not then it would indicate there is an issue on that machine.

Please report back on your progress. Smiley Happy

Thank you for your reply.

It appears that the absence of an application named .NET FRAMEWORK 4.6,
which cannot be installed on Windows 10 systems. I tried to install it
manually and was informed that it was already on the computer. Apparently,
the functionality of .NET 4.6 is included in the Windows 10 operating
system and AutoDesk doesn't know how to access it.

@jleavitt

I can read your posting 2 ways so I want to confirm what you're experiencing..

1.  Is the issue.. Hanging when you are trying to install the software using the deployment on Windows 10?

2.  Is the issue based on you launching the application after the deployment has installed the software and finished?

"Hanging on initializing" usually means its hung while the software is being installed...  Smiley Very Happy  So that's why I'm a little confused..

Or does it mean the splash screen is hung and you need to look at the solutions here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Softwa...

Thanks for your reply.

It's hanging while launching the application. I've isolated it to the fact
that .NET 4.6 cannot be installed on Windows 10 systems, but AutoCAD 2017
relies on it.

@jleavitt,

That's not correct. .Net Framework is apart of the Windows 10 install. That being said, make sure you have the .NET Framework 4.6 Advanced Services enabled in Programs & Features > Turn Windows features on or off
