Hello,

After switching to single user license from network license and updating to AutoCAD 2021 from 2019, we are getting some new error messages when starting AutoCAD. However, and of course, not every PC are getting these warnings.

1) First message says  "Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application etc.

Access to the path 'C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Temp\WinSAT' is denied.

2) The other messaged reads "Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application etc.

Access to the path 'C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Temp\CR_F228A.tmp' is denied.

Thanks in advance for assistance.

Michael

Hello @mviscettoVGK6V

This is a system error WinSAT is a Windows System Assessment Tool, its purpose is to evaluate the performance of your computer and the hardware capabilities which it is running. When launching your application the system is using this module/tool.

Follow these steps to correct the issue:

  1. Restart the computer
  2. Sign in to the computer with a Administrator profile
  3. Temporarily disable security settings like Antivirus, Firewall & UAC
  4. Clean out your Temp folder C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp folder
  5. Verify full control permissions by right-clicking the named file & folder in the error message, locate "Properties" then "Security" it should be set to full control permissions
  6. Set AutoCAD to run as Administrator
  7. Then try to launch AutoCAD again
  8. If you continue to have issues create a New User Profile (with full control permissions)

The software needs Administrator rights during installation, at first launch after installation & when required by the operating system.

Users must have full control permissions to read/write to the folder locations:

  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local
  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming
  • C:\ProgramData\
  • C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles
  • C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\CommonFiles

Additionally, users must have Full Control permissions to all registry keys and values:

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Autodesk

Thank you for that information.

I have already checked to make sure the user(s) have full access to the folder locations listed but I will try your suggestions.

Have a great day

If anyone is having a similar problem in 2024, attached photo shows error to path,

Above mentioned solution works, I had to also create the "REX" folder,

Not 100% sure if only making the REX folder would have worked without above steps, but it works now!
