3DS MAX wont start - License errors: 20, 41

I have successfully loaded 3Ds max 8 on my computer however when I go to launch it to open, it has an alert saying "your license has expired" then radio button activated says "Activate the product" then I cannot get past that.  I called the license/activate 1-800 no. to Autodesk but they couldn't help me.  I just now updated to pack 3 for max 8 but that did not fix anything.  how can we get around having to have the owners information and just fix my license problem.?

 

I read in one of the other posts that you can set something to automatic?  How do we do that?
