3ds Max won't open.Tried v2015/16/18, Student, delete ProSound... Nothing works

I've been spending all my free time this week trying to make 3ds Max work in my PC:

- i7-3829 CPU @ 360GHz 3.60GHz
- RAM 8 GB
- OS Windows 10 Home 64 bit

Nothing worked, tried all this:
- Tried installing 2015

- Tried installing 2016

- Tried installing 2018

- Tried installing Student versions of those...
- Deleting ProSound.dlc file

- Every other program closed (Not even minimized).

- Tried with a different Windows account session.

My average 3D Max experience:



Any insight please? I want to keep using my time to create rather than futilely installing and reinstalling the program 😞

If you fill out that report page that you get  then an autodesk empolyee he/she can lookup the error and help you once you post the error code on here. it could be a number of problems

3ds max 2016 cannot handle windows 10 it's not in the System requirements https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/System-r...

i think it's the same for 2015

there is your error with them two

the only one will work or should work is 2018 on windows 10

Yeah I did fill it for each case the response is the same and the re ply that's what I tried to do. Some things I seem unable to fullfill though.

I would need to know what my problem is and then look for the solution but I have no clue how to 😕

I told what was wrong with 2 of them they don't work on windows 10,

the only one will work is 2018.

and if you filled out that report and with that error report number you can post it on here, and an autodesk empolyee will look it up for you, as i am not a tech support empolyee with autodesk i cannot do anything!

I can reproduce it 100% so that shouldn't be a problem.

How or where do I find the report number?

All I have access to is this image:



And the dmpuserinfo.xml

I had a look to that and didn't see anything called "Report number"

Dunno if some value inside can be of use then?

that is a crashdump file dmpuserinfo.xml it could be a number of reason that is caused examples you have not updated your hotfix and patches from the autodesk website, your VGA cards are out of date or the max.ini has been corrupted but this is just speculation,

i would try these options

if these don't work then i would uninstall and reinstall 3ds max before doing that i would backup all your scene file if you have any

Yeah no I mean, I tried to fix that (as this is what the auto report sends back) I have no scene vecause the instal is fresh. I installed 2018 like 3 or 4 times already trying things. I mean I could not tell how 3Ds Max looks lile inside because I haven't been able to open it yet, let alone creating a scene.

I am clueless to the point of needing some especific guideline about my case because next thing I can try could be doing the bugfix shamanic equivalent of the rain dance. Yep.That clueless.

I realize I've been too brief, let me explain myself better:

I undarstand "updating your hotfix and patches from the autodesk website" shouldn't be necessary for a fresh install right?

My VGA card drivers are just updated, as I also suspected from them but no.

About the "max.ini having been corrupted" that I don't understand what it means.

sometimes they are necessary or the software won't work because they fix issues with the software.

3ds max.ini cannot be corrputed because you say it's a fresh install, have you tried to configure your VGA drive click on start the windows icon then programs, autodesk, 3ds max 2018 64 bit then open that up you should see a folder called Change VGA mode, this is your VGA driver setup now click on the revert from button and choose your VGA card drivers wather or not that is direct 3d open GL  or software, you will need to check with your VGA card manufacture which one you have once you know which one you have you will need to put the dot into the correct one then click on ok and ok again and close that box down max should start up without that crash

Tried following that route, didn't find it.

Typed "Change..." on the windows cortana text field and it finds a shortcut to the "Change Graphics mode" but when I open the destination file ( C/Autodesk/3ds Max 2018 ) there is no folder or file called "Change Graphics mode".
