3DS MAX 2016 - Inventor Server Engine Not Installed

Anonymous
Not applicable

As the title suggests, when I try to import a model into Max 2016 I get this error:

max.jpg

I've checked the plugin manager and it says the 'INVENTORIMPORT.DLI' is loaded. I've run setup again to see if anything was missed, but still doesn't work.

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

Cheers

It is an optional install.  Try expanding the widget if you have downloaded the install media.

For thread closing purpose's....

The server was installed, both in the program and plugin list. So for all intense purposes it was already installed, so simply removing and reinstalling the server engine didn't work. In the hope of getting a quick fix I flagged it with the support team, unfortunately no suggestions worked, and we had to fully uninstall 3DS Max, clean and reinstall. It does now however work as intended. Instructions below:

Hi Chris,

Looks like you may need to uninstall and reinstall 3ds max 2016 to fix the problem.

To uninstall 3ds max 2016, please follow below steps:

1  Uninstall it from the Control Panel
2  Uninstall Autodesk Inventor Server Engine for 3ds max 2016 from the Control Panel
3  Delete following folders:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2016
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2016 - 64bit
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\3DSMAX\2016
C:\Users\All Users\Autodesk\3dsMax 2016
4  Delete these registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\3dsMax\RegistryVersion20.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\3dsMax\RegistryVersion20.0

Then reinstall 3ds max 2016.

Hope this helps
