Please also note again that 2017 does not use Serial Numbers. The last of these instructions are not correct for 2017.
I was active in these forums 10 to 15 years ago. I last used them 7 years ago. All far longer than my year number currently indicates. It is more like welcome back.
That is NOT correct! You're misinformed and I'm not sure where you've gotten your information, but that's way off from being correct.
When launching the program for the first time, you have the following options:
- Login - Which is for trial mode. ---> (Prompt for user signin)
- Enter Serial Number - Which is for standalone. ---> (Prompt for Serial Number & Signin)
- Network - Licensing hosted internally on your server. ---> (Prompt for licensing server)
If you've been a veteran forums poster (although your account was created yesterday) or user, then you would know all Autodesk applications (Standalone or Network) requires a serial number because that's how licensing works.
So that you understand, here's what happened:
- When you installed the software, you used the trial mode option which you had to sign in.
- Within C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\057I1_2017.0.0.1\LGS.data file will contain _STANDALONE
- Your company purchased/subscribed to AutoCAD LT then gave you access to use the software via Autodesk Account.
- You signed out of your A360 (top-right of the application) then signed in with your email associated with your new entitlement.
- What this does is clear your cache and re-download your entitlements and compare it to your LGS.data file for the correct licensing type then uses this entitlement for continued access to the software.
If you had never chose trial mode and signed in, then you would've been required to enter a serial number.
How do I know this, there's a WebServices.log file that shows this information. Here's a peek:
