2016BDS Deployment - Extremely Long Install

I've done a couple deployments now for Building Design Suites 2016. I did all the apps I wanted... AcadMEP, Inventor, NavisManage and Revit. I did Add Updates when I built the deployments... and added them all.

The First Couple Test Installations ran very long. 10 hours in case...

Troubles:

  1. Updates for Revit 2016 are goofy. At one point the Installation seemed to halt dead in its tracks... then out of now were a dialog asking me to download and install a Revit Update... C:\Autodesk is where it wanted it asked to go. Then I got... 'There is already an install running, please wait till after it is finished. After a good while, I ended up task managering out of the update itself. Then the install from the deployment seemed to pick back up. This one took better than 8 hours.
  2. The second machine I left over night... then came back the next day. After 18 hours It was stuck dead. I ended up task managering out of it. I did test the apps... all seemed to work.
  3. I decided to turn of 'Silent Install' cause a few years ago I kind of got burned... seeing the full blown install seemed a bit more reassuring that I could see exactly what was happening. Anyway I decided to turn on 'Silent Install'... well the switch said it was on, but the actual install was not Silent. (as if I didn't turn it on)

I can't have installs taking hours with as many machines as I have to do.

I am rebuilding the deployment without the Udates and Silent Install.

For fear of installations taking hours on end... I did specific single softwares in a deployment.

The best practice... I would assume is to do a full image with ALL the softwares toggled to install... then spin off other deployments within the image.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

In order to manually activate your software (in cases where the activation appears stuck), please refer to Manually Activating Your Autodesk Software.

If the activation window is not displayed, others have resolved this by completely uninstalling and reinstalling their software. Please refer to How to Remove all Software from a Windows System for assistance.
