1619 revit install error

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi

Ive been unable to install revit 2017 education version due to what appears to be a 1619 error among microsoft visual c++ as seen in the setup log. Ive looked at other posts of the same issue and have tried several methods of solving the problem, such as uninstalling all instances of microsoft visual c++, downloading from virtual agent, turning off anti virus and fire walls, and emptying %TEMP% file. All these methods have failed in the same way.

i have attached my set up log file and an image of failed installation.

thanks

Hello jackbradshaw and welcome to the Autodesk community!

It looks like you are seeing Error 1619 while trying to install a program. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

Autodesk program installation fails

BIM 360 Add-in install error: "A newer version of this software is already installed"

Start >>here<<, follow the advice and then run the setup.exe from the extracted files that came from the Autodesk Virtual Agent.  Good luck and report back on your progress.

At this point..  Go into Windows Control Panel/Add&Remove programs..  Remove all instances of C++ (all versions and X86/64B).  Then use the Microsoft Fixit (link in my signature - but return to the posting to see my signature/link) and make sure all C++ stuff is removed from your system.  Then try again.  Also with Microsoft Fixit, you have to run it for each application that needs to be removed.

Its still failing in the same spot..  At this point you will have to modify the installation ini file.  In the extracted folder of the download parts from the Autodesk Virtual Agent..  You will find a file called setup.ini.  Open it with notepad and locate the following section

3-7-2017 10-32-18 PM.jpg

The yellow highlighted title in the image...  Rename it so it will not find that section..  Save the ini file.  Try installation again.  If it fails provide log file again..  Sorry for all of these steps.

My bad.. Smiley Sad I shouldn't response to posting when its late and heading off to bed.  Smiley Very Happy

Reset the header back to the normal name and instead set the exe64_path=blank/nothing..  Meaning remove the highlighted portion, save, and try again.

Its hanging on the same spot but with a different error message that I've never seen.  Instead of leaving that exe path = to a blank/nothing.  Can you delete the entire (exe path=) statement and try again.  Hope it works this time.

@Mark.Lancaster - Thanks for tagging me on this.

@Anonymous,

Assuming you already remove the EXE_PATH per Mark's response, please search the Setup.ini file for VCREDIST2005SP1ATLX64 and delete it from the prerequisite sections throughout the file.

setupini changes.png

Once completed, run the installation again.
