Zoning Restrictions

Zoning Restrictions

Much like using a Siutability map for corridor optimization or by using a coverage object developed from an SDF file having zoning restriction data (R1, R2, Commercial, Industrial, etc.), buidling construction for height, proximity to lot lines, volume relative to lot size etc. could be selectively controlled (with an an on/off switch) by this "zoning" map. The zoning map would be editable by the end user in order to demonstrate the effects of zoning changes (say from Industrial to Residential, for example).

Have you had a chance to take a look at Autodesk Urban Canvas? I think it could support the type of analysis you're describing.

Thank you for the inforamtion link to Urban Canvas. The software suite Autodesk picked up from Synthicity (synthicity.com) fits the bill.
