With the upcoming InfraWorks 360 2017.3 version, you can model user defined steel sections and take advantage of the girder slicing UI to modify any of the section's parameters along the length of the span. In the InfraWorks UI, these custom sections can be specified as structural steel. For now, you can experiment by using Project Kameleon (which is on labs) and this allows you to create your own custom content. We have plans to graduate Project Kameleon from labs.
The following image illustrates a model where variable depth steel box girder main spans were modeled.
With the user defined steel girder sections approach described above, the girder lengths will be between piers, exactly as they are for the concrete girders. At a later time, we plan to add additional capabilities to let users position field splices at desired locations.
In multi-girder construction, a number of similarly sized longitudinal plate girders are arranged at uniform spacing across the width from the bridge, as shown in the typical cross-section below. The deck slab spans transversely between the longitudinal girders and cantilevers transversely outside the outer girders. The girders are braced together at supports and at some intermediate positions.
Composite action between the reinforced concrete deck slab and the longitudinal girders is achieved by means of shear connectors welded on the top flanges of the steel girders.
The arrangement shown in the image below is common where permanent formwork is used and shows four girders of equal depth and with a slab surface that follows the camber of the road.
A footway/verge is provided on either side of a 2-lane single carriageway and parapets/restraint barriers are mounted on the edge beams.
These typical composite steel girder bridges, along with the cross frames and diaphragms between the girders can be modeled in the software. Your above post appears to be missing an image. Can you clarify your question? Thanks.
