Thanks Andy. I agree its good idea. Currently feature extraction from point cloud data (for AEC) is being handled as high priority task for point clouds leaving visualization to ReCap for now. But we have plans to improve visualization aspect in future. If you think this is quite important, can you provide some use case to push this up in priority?
I work with point clouds all the time capturing marine structures and I would love to be able to (and allow my clients to) visualise there asset in context (ie infraworks) but
as some of those points are collected below the water level from sonar or subsea laser and as such don't have rgb values and are sometimes more sparse they don't display well with the basic colour elevation ramp without having shaders or ambient occlusion etc.
See this image I created in infraworks - the grey scale is the best but the detail would be better on all display styles with shaders.
It sure is in the list but we are focusing so much on feature extraction from point cloud data, this keep getting pushed down. I sure will let you know once we start working on this.
