The Civil 3D to Infraworks work flow through IMX is great.
One issue is that when you bring the IMX into Infraworks and it contains multiple surfaces, I don't believe it allows you to order those surfaces while into Infraworks.
This can be worked around by making one combined surface in the orginial C3D file however this isn't always practical.
