The new Engineering Views are a great addition for a better visual environment in detailed design. Still, I think this could even be improved as follows: Include a new feature to set Wireframe and/or Solid representation on specific Features. This way we would have even better visual discernment between objects in the model I believe when necessary. Then this would become possible:

Not all models allows the customer to store in the cloud. After completing the project, and visualization can be transferred to the customer and model. If allowed to view local object on the free version, the client may be interested, "What else can I do with the model." And it shall order the program.

Hi, Floor Space I have been using Infraworks for a variety of projects and along others, infill building studies in urban areas. For this purpose it would be great if proposals had floor space (i.e. building area x floors) added up along the area calculation for buildings. This way I could estimate the population etc. easily. Floor space is already calculated for individual buildings, but not for the proposal whole. Along showing the proposal floor space, calculation mechanics would be useful to note besides it. For my work, I would even prefer a simplified calculation that counts full three meter floors instead of juggling with the building style modules. Related Metrics Having floor space would open up the option to estimate number of inhabitants, parking requirements etc. The next dilemma would be to incorporate these calculations. For example, I could export data table of floor space for proposal buildings and use excel to calculate these. Even more specifically, I could use the stylization to differentiate different building types in the data table - that way I can have blocks of flats with different living density than single family houses. These metrics would also be sweet to have in Infraworks, or custom numeric variables for general purpose. In Finland, floor space is the #1 urban design metric. Having Infraworks calculate that would be a dream come true, since nowadays I have to bypass the calculations by making either Revit design links (slow) or 2D design and SHP import (unintuitive) to see the floor space for proposals. Will be great to have possibilitie import Overlays as *shp file, and put them in to the deferent folders and get a possibilitie to hide or unhide them. And off cors to have a possibilitie to creat a style for them. See the image below:

It would be great if grips were added for rotating an object in the X and Y planes, not just only the Z plane. You could turn these grips on and off by right-clicking a 3D model in the workspace, just like you do for showing roadside grading or design speed etc. Currently, you can only change the rotation from inside the properties panel with auto update turned on which can be trial and error at times because you'll rotate it too far, and to get it exactly where you want you have to keep entering in rotation values which is alot slower than just having a grip for it. Also, it would be great if the properties pane automatically checked auto update.

I am creating scenario for online viewing, I notice we have a layer option that you can turn off buildings etc. when using it in the web browser or ipad. Can we add to that to allow our custom added model features to turn on/off? This would be so powerful for client interaction!! Thanks, Scott

The ability to select an object, right-click and select either ADD SELECTED (AutoCAD platform) or CREATE SIMILAR (Revit platform) would be a great addition. It would eliminate the need to have to go to the tools menu, select the command, select the style, etc... I envision this working for most items such as city furniture, roads (plan / design), coverage areas, land areas, but nothing that is associated with a data source such as imported SHP files, LandXML data and the like.

It can be very handy navigating from Bookmark to Bookmark when we can expose them in the model as 3D objects/icons including links, just like we can in Navisworks.

Hello, First and foremost, I am a huge proponent of having more power over customizing line markings, adding crosswalks, and upgrading how custom lane textures work. As such I have placed a vote on the respective ideas that already exist. I am here hoping you can modify something that I would think is a “low hanging fruit”. With catalogs, I have figured out how to template road styles (municipality standard cross-sections) through Infraworks models making the program easier to start up and pick up. I have also figured out how to do custom lane textures for bike lanes, parking lanes, and rudimentary shoulder lines through the use of material catalogs. However I am having a problem in the workflow where exporting the materials catalog or component catalog does not bring the custom textures from the C:/Users/username/Documents/Autodesk Infraworks Models/Autodesk 360/######/Infraworks File Name.files/unver/Content/Textures/ file. When importing a component catalog, it already brings over the associated materials catalog with it with all of the required material styles. Is it possible to also copy the textures when saving the catalog instead of having to ask my users to copy and paste a file deep in the directory each time they start a new project? Thanks,

Since IW is primarily a transportation design environment. It would be nice if some of the typical design features were able to be placed into the design as a "smart object" because IW is "aware" of what needs to be done rather than having to input/configure/edit endlessly to get a simple item placed. Here's my example, a barrier flare. Currently you must place the barrier component, stretch it, split the shoulder several times, create transitions, edit widths. I would like to be able to have a tool that can place a barrier flare automatically along a shoulder simply by the user defining the warranted length with two clicks on the shoulder. Then IW would auto-magically place the flare using the predefined standards based on design speed and barrier dimension. Ideally acting similar to the "Intersection" object, having editable grips, onscreen or stack station/offset values, etc. If a component road has a long segment that requires barrier (not just a short section like in my PDF example) then we should be able to add a flare to the beginning or end of an existing barrier segment or be able to remove the opposing flare and stretch the end of a far as required. The 'four arrow' full screen button in upper right doesn't change to indicate what the next button push will actually do. When InfraWorks launches it correctly shows four arrows pointing outward, to go full screen. Click that to go full screen, and the button looks the same, when the arrows should be pointed inward to leave full screen. Hitting Escape in full screen, just results in a 'Unable to open Model' error message, instead of leaving full-screen. Click that again to leave full screen, and you first leave full screen and then subsequently reduce from maximized as well. Cheers
