Currently Infraworks is incorrectly placing a pair of inlets with every manhole when doing its road drainage analysis.
Inlets should only be placed where the road capacity is being exceeded either by Depth and/or Spread criteria. So this analysis and subsequent network is nonsense and meaningless, and is not worth bringing into Civil 3D.
Also the tributary area for each inlet is only limited to between the curbs, which is more nonsense. In the real world, runoff comes on to the streets from the adjacent lands and needs to be accounted for and delineated as tributary drainage basins for the inlets... again created based on the street capacity exceedance criteria.
The User needs to be able to easily enter Depth and Spread criteria for each road on the drainage asset card for the road. Default values would be supplied, but also can easily be changed by the User at design time.
Infraworks is being marketed to us as preliminary design software designed to interact with Civil 3D and it's falling very short in this regard from an engineer's perspective.
