Data from Model Builder

Data from Model Builder

If i start a project initially with model builder data there is a need for a date stamp that shows  when?and how? and by whom the data was produced. there is the ability to get details of when the Infraworks model was created but not the actual data used. So it would be very useful to have the source information included in that panel.  I.E need the date terrain was created and by whom, and data collection method, same with the aerial raster image.

I am aware  of the various website where you can track down that information but it would be good to includeas a default.

I agree. That information would be helpful. We often have to provide a tech memo stating the source of data used in a project.

To tag items with that level of data would mean the ability to "split" them up into portions somehow.

So asking for metadata on portions of a model, requires that mechanism, and its a hard one so the C3D team won't likely do it.

How about something a little simpler like "Open Street Maps, Jan/1986" or USGS DEM 2006?

right, of course we want something simple, but IW pastes together surfaces to make one final one.

So there has to be some way to identify what portions of the final surface came from what, and then you could tag those areas.

If you just mean tagging the data source files, how about naming the file with the info.

What was your version of how it could be implemented "simple"?
