Hi there,
It would be amazing if we could create a custom multi-layered material that could follow a line. For example, I would like to create a railway material that would follow along a line. If the material could be layered I could create a base layer for the ballast (stone) and one for the tracks. Assuming the ballast could be rendered first before the track it would allow the tracks to cross without the ballast overwriting any track texture.
I know we can use custom styles already but they cannot always cope with complex lines that continually cross each other; as I encountered previously (see image below). The other issue it that it creates unnecessary polygons if it is not your main focus. This would also allow us the create intersecting roads with painted lines or even dusty tracks with tyre marks.
This would also be amazing if you would support for opacity, normal, bump and specular maps if that's possible!
The image below was a site with railway lines that were too complex to use the inbuilt rail styles on - so use a road style instead.
Cheers,
Steve
