Country Kit Standards

Country Kit Standards

Screaming here for country kit standards similar to those that come with Civil 3D. I am trying to convince my company to use this software and surely they're going to be impressed when they see how we can lay a road following speed parameters and intersections or roundabouts for certain vehicles, etc. until I tell them that it only follows American standards. That'd be a game changer for all those not working in the U.S.

Cheers

Hi, Javier. Thanks for taking the time to post an idea. I'm assuming your request would put a pretty high priority on Australian road design parameters, correct?

We realize that the AASHTO standards aren't as useful to those working outside North America. Making available additional types of content (rules, standards, 3D models) specific to other geographic regions is part of our roadmap. Unfortunately I can't speak to when these might be delivered.

Thanks for your reply scunnigham. Yeah, that's right it's a really high priority. Let's put it this way, most managers are 50+. They started their engineering careers when computers where monochrome and used floppy disks. They've done tons of plans by hand, where you could see only lines and circles. Then AutoCAD showed up, where you could create lines and circles but faster. Later we got C3D that, despite creating 3D models, the outputs are, again, lines and circles. Now, when they see Infraworks they only see a fancy gaming software to paint a pretty picture with no engineering value. Then you try to tell them: no, no, look, there's a lot of engineering parameters in the background when you lay a road or create an intersection, but it's all based in American Standards. FAIL.

Civil 3D has many country kits available with country specific standards. Infraworks is 3 or 4 years old, right? Time to expand the market outside the U.S. It's a win-win for everyone.

Cheers

The same goes for Norwegian standards. I know there is a lot of user here in Norway that wish for standards for roundabouts that we can use.

And the same goes also for German, Austrian and Swiss standards. It's really necessary to use and show that the road-design is based on german standards like RASt.

I confirm that also for Italy road standard are vey important, also in front of competition.
We will be happy to have an InfraWorks Country Kit, like for Civil 3D.

Many Thanks

This goes of course for the Benelux region as well. I know the existance of a workflow (created by Autodesk btw) to create Custom Design standards... why not create the standard itself and ship it with the software or as a downloadable Country Kit?

@scunningham How would you need the information (national road design standards) to be able to produce such a "country kit"?

Jaap

In last InfraWorks Update, 2019.2, in Road Style Palette I found a Country Kits folder with FRA and AUT subfolders.

I am happy for French and Austrian people, I hope Country Kit for Italy will follow soon!

Thanks and kind regards

I'm agree with gperego, and I think that the country kit for Spain is also important.

Every time there are more users of Infraworks and the clients need the correct standars.

By the other hand, Does anyone know the workflow to create custom design standars for Infraworks that   pieter.haeck has named?

Thanks martineznacho.
In the last 2019.3 Update there are several country kits: German, Swedish, UK, France, Austrian ones.
I hope the country kit for Italy - and Spain, of course - will be released soon!

Kind regards

The original post said Infraworks only uses American standards. I have not found anything American in the software yet. It would be nice to have a US Country Kit
