I think you mean API, and yes we also need a open API more then the possibilities of scripting. A closed API seem to exist, see the extension.

Hi David,

Could you elaborate on what you'd like to do with the API?  Have you worked with the JavaScript API?

One of the successes and rise of AutoDesk in the 80’s, mainly AutoCAD was it's open architecture.

Autodesk in IW360 will never be able to address all the requirements and design nuances

in different geographic areas.

Allowing end-users the ability to tap into API to mold and shape the product to work efficiently in their industry is crucial.

by the way, is there a "hello world" sample??

@Anonymous,

To get started just open the scripting console (help), and run the following:

print("hello world!")

To go further, look at the JavaScript webcast, associated samples and API documentation.  Here are two posts that will help:

  1. Scripting in InfraWorks 360 - webcast thread
  2. Documentation and Samples for August 19th Scripting Webcast

One of the big movements in the GIS industry is python scripting I would like to access objects in my infrawroks models with python update them modify them and generate reports from the SQLite file. All the things that many users are asking for. I have access to in-house programmers that would like to help me enhance the tools I need for my projects but I it would be nice to have a open api and strong api documentation so we can make the tools we need. Much like max script for 3ds max.

This is of course a great idea, and development of an API is on our road map. We don't have any kind of ETA for you but please keep voting if you think this is important.  The more community support we see, the more likely we are to prioritize API over other things.
