I have civil3d drawing which is set according to the coordinates.

I have created a model in infraworks using the same  coordinate systen but when i import the civil3d dwg file, it prompts to me  wrong coordinate error please help me in the issue as i have a deadline to present my project. I also have imx file which i have used as civil3d import to infraworks if someone can have a look?

Any video resources will be highly appreciated. I have attached the files for ready reference.

Hi prabhkaur1987,

Create a new InfraWorks model using LL84 for Database coordinates and set your UCS coordinate system to your project system. Then try again.

Let me know how this works out for you?

@Anonymous,

What do you mean by 'image of the surface'? Is that regarding an arial image draped on it or are you not seeying the surface in the InfraWorks viewport but only in the Data Sources?

If it is about the draped arial image, you can easily connect to Microsoft Bing WMS server and pull in the arial image like below using a Database Data Source. You can even enlarge the Tile Level to get a better resolution image in.

Hello @Anonymous

InfraWorks works with real world coordinates.

Your Civil 3D DWG contains a geomarker, the geometry is actually close to the origin (X,Y = 0,0).

This coordinate system (CS) you have applied has minimum and maximum boundaries defined (X = 236000 to 563000, Y = 514000 to 1113923).

Once you open your geometry in InfraWorks it will detect that the data is outside of the defined boundaries for the CS.

You need to move the geometry to the correct coordinates. Once you have done this it will import into InfraWorks at the real worl coordinates.

To see the aerial BING image in InfraWorks you need to "Add database data source" -> Bing Maps.

Hope this helps,

Karsten.
