Traffic simulation for design?

Someone asked me what questions Autodesk is trying to answer with the traffic simulation tools.

From what I have seen, they are not intended to do a final sell of anything, but to give engineers ideas and general guidance when proposing things early on.

Also, they are a way to make little cars drive around and look cool, which is something competing products do that clients like.

I don't want to sell the IW team short though. Are the tools intended to prove to an agency or client that a certain option should be done, and will fulfill the need at hand?

Can anyone say "we used to do this process, and now we do this in IW instead"?

I'm tired of the Autodesk type answers "you use it however it helps you, we do not limit it to any use..." like I didn't know that.

thanks.
