Profile is changing while converting to design road

Hi,

I imported road alignment with profile as SHP file from Civil 3D. While converting to design road, road profile is changing...

Any idea what can cause that change ?

I was also trying to import road straight from C3D file but after importing road is not visible.

I am using IF360 version 18.0.46.0

Here is my model: 263017.7z

and SHP file: SHPfile.7z

Regards

Just now I`ve come back to the model and the profile is changing now while changing lanes forward/backward numbers...

It is really starting to makes me annoying. I`ve never had the problems like this with older IF versions.

I have to build the intersection with ramps and I can`t do it properly without changing lanes number on main road.

Before change (rigth profile) :

After change (wrong profile)

Please find some time to check what is going on with my model.

I might add this also happens when you download a model from Model builder and than convert those roads to a Design road from a sketch road.  Some stay at the previous elevations that were imported, and others elevated as much as 50' up from the actual terrain they are draped along.  Nothing is done other than converting the roads.

This is an issue that's been happening for the last 3 versions of IW.  I should know I've had to revideo training lessons each and every time this has happened over the last 2 years due to this problem.

It would be nice if they addressed the issue and fixed it.

If you select "recreate profile" for this road, it does bring it closer to the existing terrain. But the other out of the box experience should be looked at too and I will take it to our team.

Thanks

Hi Kubastan89,

just saw this. want to investigate this more from infraworks team side.

are you changing lane foward and backward of DK6_Bozepole_1?

seems that those roads are created from civil 3d drawing. is it possible to share this drawings? this will help to get the issue resolved.

Thanks,

Frank Huang

Hi @pricej

what InfraWorks version do you use?

As far as I know work has been done on this issue by the development team and the issue should not appear in the latest version (2019.1).

Regards,

Karsten.

I can confirm that the profile no longer changes in 2019 🙂 . I don’t however get the same vertical grips on my imported alignment so can’t edit the profile....but it is fine for what I am doing. Thank you.
