Precast slab elements ?

Hello there, I'm trying to design an bridge in Infraworks in which precast slab elements are used for the construction. What would be the correct workflow for modelling those elements? Should I model them together with the deck or like generic objects, crossframe objects, etc ? If I modelled them together with the deck, Infraworks would read those elements like a part of the deck, so when I exported It to Revit I could have problems setting different properties for the deck and those precast slabs ??

I see two workflows depending of your experience with Inventor :

  1. Add a Custom Component Deck emulating the space of the precast element (void space) .  Then, add Group Generic Objects for you Precast Slabs.

    N.B. With the same Inventor part, you will be able to generate both components, because one complete the other.

  2. Create a Generic Object for the slab and the precast slabs : create an Inventor assembly with parts inserted with Place iLogic Component .  One part for the slab et one part for each span of precast slabs,  Drive all your part parameters with iLogic rules and include the road profile in your slab.  Hide the native InfraWorks slab in Revit and/or use it to check your profile.

Also, quick tip for the vertical profile in Inventor : use the PVI of your vertical profile as the Inventor model origin.  It will be very easy to locate the Generic Object on the bridge, because InfraWorks and Civil 3D knows this PVI station and elevation.

Another thing, a haunch will be required between the precast/prestressed girders and the slab.
