InfraWorks Model Builder - Local Model

I'm a member of a BIM 360 Docs account. I want to create a model in InfraWorks from Model Builder but I don't want to use BIM 360 Docs. Is there a way to do that? I saw that you can create a local model using model builder but the video I watched indicated that the account creating the model wasn't a part of a BIM 360 Docs account.

I create lots and lots of models that don't ever get put into a project. I don't want to clutter up our BIM 360 Docs with these one offs.

Currently, you can only create BIM 360 models with Model Builder if you have a BIM 360 account. One option would be to create a local copy of the BIM 360 model and then delete the BIM 360 model. The local model creation with Model Builder is currently only accessible to non-BIM 360 accounts. I will bring this up with the team.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the confirmation.

Hey @BrianHailey thanks for the feedback! We received similar feedback, might even had been from you back in January in Manchester. Would you prefer just the local Model Builder for all users, then decide what to sync to BIM360 after the Model is created? Or would you like to choose, local or BIM360, during model creation? Any other thoughts, please share.

I would like the option right there in Model Builder. Perhaps two tabs, one BIM 360 and one Local Copy.

It's a really bad mock up but perhaps something like this. If a user isn't using BIM 360 and clicks on the BIM 360 tab, you could have some information there about it and links to purchase it.

A method of creating a Local model via Model Builder is certainly needed......not all projects need the BIM360 spin.

PS Shared Views are a great improvement in this 2019 release but still some teething troubles

I just want to add to this.  The project I do have running on BIM360 has nothing to do with the Infraworks project I want to start and will never be on BIM360.  While I understand your (Autodesk's) desire to push people to this service, it kinda makes the program useless for me unless I disconnect from the other project or add the service to our account.  Any update on when this "feature" could be implemented?

Making this accessible on BIM 360 only is a major limitation to most projects.

We released a hotfix for 2019.3 today that allows all users to create "local" Model Builder models. You can find it in the Autodesk Desktop App and more information here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/infraworks-forum/2019-3-hotfix-1-released-and-available-in-autodesk-desktop-app/td-p/8641046
