Infraworks Hardware

I would like to run big models on Infraworks and looking at a dedicated machine.

RAM and CPU are a given: the more the better. But what is the answer to GPU? is having a GTX1080 will show me great performance boost? what about an SLI setup?

Does Infraworks take advantage of the GPU?

Many thanks

Have you seen the system requirements for IW 360 page? Here are a few of my laptop's specs. And I have an NVIDIA Quadro M4000M graphics card.

Thank you Matt

Allow me to clarify:

I have seen the minimum requirements and my question is not about that, the question is about the GPU and if I buy the top of the line card, will I see benefit with Infraworks? as well, will it be better on an SLI setup?

Coming from Revit, top of the line card does not mean better performance 🙂

cheers

From my personal experience, you don't need a top-notch, super-duper computer to run Infraworks. It handles large data sets very well. I was running it on my previous laptop which only had 16 GB of RAM and a Quadro graphics card. Nowhere near top of the line and it handled my models without any issues. Likewise with my current set up. I should also add that in addition to running Infraworks, I'm also running Revit MEP/Structure (2014-2017), Navisworks, AutoCAD MEP/Civil 3D 2015-2016, 3DS Max, Stingray and Recap.

Appreciate your response and taking the time Matt.

I'm after a technical answer from an Autodesk Technical person. Need to understand how the program is taking advantage of the GPU.

Okay. Maybe @Willy_Campbell can help you out with this one. He updated this article a little while ago when I was having problems with IW and my graphics card. Hopefully he'll chime in later.
