Infraworks 360 and Drones

Hello guys,

We (me and my company) recently have the idea to make and aerophotography mapping with a drone. As results we got the ortogonal pictures (TIFF), the terrain (TIFF), the Point Cloud (LAS) and the Mesh (OBJ). With this we generated the 3d model of the area as you can see here:

https://sketchfab.com/trentoengenharia/models

We used the Pix4D, Recap 360 and Drone Deploy as softwares till now.

My question is, theres is a way to import our data to InfraWorks and get a model like the samples (with buildings, roads etc) sou we can build our project in the model?

Heitz,

Sure you can import the rcs point cloud file to Infraworks for your visualization.

We also added "point cloud processing" feature which got a tool "Point Cloud Terrain" that you can use to extract terrain information from point cloud by automatically removing above ground features and noises.

If you are a sandbox user, we also have one more feature called "Point Cloud Modeling" that lets you convert above ground features to models to create real 3D models from point cloud.

With the processed point cloud in place, you can also inherent IW features to drop road styles to create necessary road models and such to enrich your final 3D model.

Please let us know if there is anything more or different you are looking for and will try to get some solution as best as possible.

Thanks.

Hi Heitz,

Please try the recent version of IW to import and process the point cloud, which should work much better. Feel free to share the point cloud which we can test it for you. Please email me if you need some means to upload, I can setup a box folder for you.

ReCap pro should help you georeference the point clouds. There should be you tube videos available for this process and I will also try to get some information for you.

Thanks.

Jason,

Using Autodesk Recap would be easiest way to convert las to RCS which you can bring into InfraWorks. You can also do trimming or any other prep work in ReCap as you wish.

Please let me know if you need more details.

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous

Do you have access to ReCAP?, you ccn download the 30 days trial, and if you do, in order to geo-reference the data, follow this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn__9d4d8mQ&t=33s

Now, make sure you check the gps data from the images you have taken with your drone, so you can verify you are looking at the same control points.

If you find this answer helpful please click the ACCEPT solution and/or the KUDOS button...

saludos y gracias
