Importing .LAS file

Hi, questions from Japan.

When I import .LAS file, if its file path includes DBCS, importing is failed.

This trouble happens only importing .LAS, any other files are alright.

Also I'm using InfraWorks 2021 and 2022, then the both version have the same problem.

Are there any updates or solutions?

Hi @hondaLEGQZ ,

can you explain what exactly is "DBCS"?
Do you mean that any characters in the path/folder cause the issue?

Regards,

Karsten.

hi, @Karsten.Saenger

Sorry for my explain is not good.

DBCS means double-byte character.

When the path of .LAS file includes double-byte character, I cannot import it. Its file name doesn't matter, just the file path.

Also if I use .RCS file or other type of files (like .DWG or .XML) , this issue doesn't happen.

Autodesk in Japan says just 'InfraWorks can import .LAS/.LAZ files from ver.2021', then I could not find any solutions in Japanese Forum.

I would recommend processing the .las file in ReCap and then attaching the point cloud in InfraWorks.

Hi @hondaLEGQZ ,

thank you for the detailed explanation.

I can recreate the issue on my side and will forward it to the development team for fixing.

In the meantime, please follow @ToddRogers-WPM 's suggestion and use ReCap first to create the point cloud.

Regards,

Karsten.
