How to Delete an InfraWorks model

If the model is local, meaning you didn't start your project from Model Builder, you will see these options when you hover the mouse over the project from the Launch Page:

disconnect4.png

Options include: Open Model, Duplicate Model, and Delete Model. Notice the House icon next to the project size.

If you started your project from Model Builder, hovering the mouse will show a Cloud icon. The Cloud icon means the model was born in the Cloud, and is currently connected to a version there as well:

You will need to disconnect the model from the Cloud to make the Open/Duplicate/Delete options available.

To disconnect your model, open the project, and select Seetings and Utilities [upper right]> Disconnect Model

disconnect2.png

You will get the following message:

disconnect3.png

Return to the InfraWorks Launch Page using the home icon in the upper left, and you will see the Open/Duplicate/Delete options available:

disconnect4.png

NOTES:

  • This process only affects the local copy of the model if it has been downloaded from the Cloud.
  • Browse to C:\Users\*your computer*\Documents\Autodesk InfraWorks Models [the Default IW project location] and select the Project.SQLite and corresponding Project.Files folder. Deleting both of these will also remove the project from your computer, and the list on the Launch Page.

Thats fine and dandy but what if your model crashes before you are able to access it?  I currently have a file that infraworks is unable to render and in order for me to delete it I have to open the file first?

Is there a way to restore a previous version? is there a way to disconnect the file without having to open it first?

Im halfway through a project and I am no longer able to work on it.

What is your menu doesn't even have the "disconnect model" option.

"Disconnect Model" is not available in recent InfraWorks releases, not sure the specific number although.

In 18.2 for example:

1. To delete a cloud model, use  below "Manage Online Models".

- If the model never downloaded, it will disappear from Home directly;

- If ever downloaded, it's displayed as local model and could be deleted through the button.

Delete Online Model.PNG2. To delete local cache of a model, you need to go to the cache folder. Check it in App Options, find the model by name, delete the .sqlite file as well as directory. Clicking the model thumbnail now on home screen will download a new local cache from cloud.

Local Cache.PNG

In 2019.0 BIM 360 mode, manage online models is not available. You can delete online model from BIM 360 Docs, and follow the same way to delete local cache.

Hope it can help.

Regards,

Ellen
