How do I join roads together? (2 lane and a 4 lane)

Hi,

I'm having difficulty joining a 2 lane and a 4 lane together for a highway.

I've got the vertical and horizontal alignments from Autocad Civil 3D and imported these in to Infraworks, then infraworks has automatically created the road profile for me (which is great) but it hasn't merged the two roads I need merging together.

Do I need to have the both roads connected in Civil 3D or re-draw the roads in infraworks?  Can some show me a workflow solution or provide some guidance on this issue please 🙂

Thanks really appreciate it.

D

Hi @Anonymous

You should be able to construct the off ramp with the two lanes attached to the right of the road geometry (centerline) and will connect the two roads via an intersection object. Here is a rough example:

Hi @SethHall thanks for the help, really appreciate it.

Only issue I'm now having is that the 4-lane road changes to a bi-directional road.  I need these merging roads to go in same direction as your image.

Hi @Anonymous

Glad to help! Just like the ramp I showed, it all depends on where you place your lanes in relation to the CL. Lanes on the right of the CL are always lanes forward, lanes on the left are lakes backward. Place all 4 lanes on the right and they will all go the same direction:
