Exporting a 3D model from Infraworks (fbx) to Symlab or Navisworks to create a 3d pdf

Hey folks,

I’m fairly new to InfraWorks. I created a model that I want to convert into a 3D PDF, and after some research, I found a software called Simlab that facilitates this conversion.

The issue arises when I export the 3D model from InfraWorks as an FBX file and import it into Simlab. The ground imagery texture from InfraWorks does not align correctly in Simlab. (I will attach some images to illustrate the problem.)

  • Image 2: Export settings in InfraWorksIm 2.png

  • Image 3: Import settings in SimlabIm 3.png

  • Image 4: How the model appears in SimlabIm 4.png

I’ve been trying to find a solution by adjusting various export settings in InfraWorks and import settings in Simlab, but I haven’t had any success.

However, I noticed that when I select an area in Simlab and check its properties, I can see the imported aerial textures (Image 5).

After experimenting with Simlab, I found that Navisworks has a feature that allows exporting a model to a 3D PDF using a Simlab extension. When I imported the InfraWorks model into Navisworks, it looked great, and the aerial imagery aligned perfectly (Image 6).

However, when I used the Simlab extension to convert it to a 3D PDF, it opened in Simlab with the same alignment issue for the aerial ground imagery.

Does anyone know a possible fix for this?
