So you want to create a skyway? Here's how:
1) Sketch a design road that connects between the entrance and exit for your skyway/catwalk/pedstrian walkway.
- I chose to connect a skyway between a rooftop and a second-floor balcony entrance.
- You will probably also want to stylize a design road to resemble your walkway, by adding 3D model decorations such as lightposts, trash cans, even people, and so forth to the bridge deck style (i.e. road style) or even use custom profiles to add fencing.
2) Right-click on the design road and click Add Bridge. Click once to place the start station and again to place the end station. Your abutments will be located at these stations, so place them inside of the buildings, or as close to the buildings as you can. In some cases, it may be easiest to move your buidlings out of the way, sketch the skyway, then move the buildings back into place.
3) Select the bridge while in edit mode, and checkmark "Show Clearance Envelope" in the Bridge asset card, then add the height value you want for your skyway.
4) Right-click on the bridge and click "Update Vertical Profile."
5) Fine-tune your skyway.
- You may have to move the buildings to cover the bridge's abutments (you can delete one abutment at a time, but not both)
- You might even want to resize the abutments (using editing grips and gizmos) to be so tiny that they are basically invisible.
- And you also may want to experiment with facade styles for your buildings in order to get your doorways to line up with your skyways.
6) That's it!
Here's a rough example that I quickly sketched. However, note that the bridge actually extends into the middle of both connecting buildings, so material quantities of the bridge and/or road will not be completely accurate:
