Can't see LandXML or IMX surface imported from Civil 3d

I'm having an issue w/ my proposed surface that was created in Civil 3d 2019, not showing up in Infraworks 2020.  i've tried to import as both an .IMX and Land XML and neither shows up.  It is set to State Plane Coordinates and it appears like it is importing properly (no errors), but then I can't see it.  I'm a newbie to Infraworks, so it's probably and operator error.  Can someone enlighten me?   I will attach the surface file here if I can.  It looks like in the surface layers that it's off, but it won't let me turn it on.  What am I missing?

You probably just need to move it from the "Uncategorized" section to the "Ground Surface" section in the surface layers window. Then you can turn the light bulb on.

Hi @dsmith97C5F ,

@mzjensen is correct.
Loading your surface works fine, see https://autode.sk/2C0a05W

Karsten.

That was it!  Awesome!  Thanks so much.  I figured it was something simple.  Any ideas why it doesn't just put a surface in the Ground Surface catagory  to begin with?

For example, what if you want to show different soil layers that are below grade? You wouldn’t want those surfaces to blend with the ground, but rather be independent and “float” beneath the ground. You can test that for yourself by clicking the “New Surface Layer” button and then moving your Civil 3D surface to that layer.

I have the same issue, except I move it to ground surface category but it won't let me turn it on.  See attached LandXML imported from SiteOps for grading purposes.  Any suggestions?

Hi @sduffin ,

same test as in post https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/infraworks-forum/civil-3d-surface-import-problem/td-p/9508150 - I loaded the LandXML surface just fine into InfraWorks 2021.
Can you send the InfraWorks log files after you tried to load the LandXML surface data?

Thanks I was able to do the same.  I didn't try importing LandXML into new model builder model.  Not sure why it wouldn't work in my already built model, but I am good now.  Thanks for your help!
