Do you have a Material/Color assigned to the Grading Area? I'm working on a project where I have the Grading Areas set to Transparent and have Coverage Areas in areas such as pavement, road striping, grass, and so on. I hope this helps.

Set your Grading Area object to transparent then you should be able to see the Coverage Areas.
