What is Autodesk Informed Design?
Autodesk Informed Design is a platform-based solution that brings manufacturing information to the beginning of the design process to inform design decisions and improve project certainty, prevent errors, and accelerate our customers' workflows.
It allows subcontractors and manufacturers to define and share their construction products with architectural designers, including any allowable configuration.
This provides Revit users the ability to configure a construction product for their specific needs and know the results will meet the supplier or manufacturer's criteria.

What does Autodesk Informed Design cost?
Autodesk Informed Design is currently available to Autodesk subscribers at no additional charge.
Autodesk Flex Tokens
At the time of writing (March 2025), Flex tokens are not required to generate outputs from Informed Design.

Prerequisites
To publish manufacturing content, the following is required:
- Autodesk Inventor* + the Informed Design plugin for Inventor + permission to publish to †Autodesk Docs
To configure and place published content, the following is required:
- Autodesk Revit* + the Informed Design plugin for Revit + permission to access †Autodesk Docs
To generate outputs, the following is required:
- Informed design web app + permission to access Autodesk Docs
*Autodesk Revit 2024, Inventor 2024, and later versions are supported by Informed Design.
†Informed Design supports the publishing of content to the Autodesk Docs US server only (as of March 2025).

Autodesk Bridge
Informed Design’s integration with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) Bridge allows manufacturers to publish products to their own project folders and seamlessly share these folders with other accounts and projects across the Autodesk Construction Cloud.
An Autodesk Docs license is required to publish products to ACC and share them using Bridge.
Limitations
At the time of writing, ACC Bridge functionality does not support cross-region data transfers between Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) data centers in the US, EU, and APAC regions. ACC Bridge only allows folders and files to be shared within the same regional data center.

Download or access Informed Design.
To access the Informed Design web app, visit https://informeddesign.autodesk.com/
To download the informed design for Inventor and Revit, click on the question mark ‘?’ symbol and follow the instructions.

Updating Informed Design
The Informed Design add-ins will prompt when they need updating. To update the Informed Design add-ins for Revit and Inventor, follow the instructions in the Access & Installation guide.
Licensing requirements
Users will need an Autodesk account to be allocated a license.
An active license of Inventor 2024 or later is required to publish manufacturing models to Informed Design.
An active license of Revit 2024 or later is required to discover, configure, and place content from Informed Design.
A Revit model must be published to Autodesk Docs to generate manufacturing outputs, this requires an active license of Autodesk Docs.
Manufacturing outputs can be saved to any of:
A corresponding license allocation and permissions are required to publish to these locations.
Revit and Autodesk docs are included in the Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection
Inventor and Fusion Team are included in the Autodesk Product Design and Manufacturing Collection.

Informed Design utilizes Autodesk Docs and folder permissions to manage access when using Informed Design for Inventor and Revit.
