Baffled why anyone would have thought this was a good thing

Not baffling at all to me -- everything takes work and it's a matter not of thinking the current state is a "good thing" but whether putting the time in to make the extra functionality work is worthwhile in relation to everything else that could be done.

I mean, suggest away, but if I were the developers I'd be more likely to take a suggestion seriously if it didn't simultaneously insult me.

Sorry @patrik-web maybe I'm dense but I fail to see the insult there.

I totally get that resources are finite but what's baffling is that this seems like something where effort was activelly expended to decrease functionality.

Maybe I'm an unreasonable maniac, but when you can easily solve a more general problem with no more effort and you go out of your way to solve a less general one instead, that's a little odd.

Frankly even if it were grossly insulting, abusive, and utterly unprofessional (which I really don't think expressing bewilderment remotely qualifies for), that's not a very good excuse not to do your job if you were the developers.

Cross projects work will start soon. There are good reasosn why this needed more time and work to complete.

Projects are the boudary by which user permissions are set. There are quite a few failure cases that have to be handeled if you insert data from a project that others don't have access to, permissions on a project change, or a prioject is archived.

Fair enough @schneik-adsk

Not trying to be unreasonable there but I really try to make an effort to only be critical of issues with the product and avoid personal attacks so I'm a little sensitive and get more than a little bit butt-hurt reading things like @patrik-web telling me that I'm insulting people.

Perhaps you're not aware how "Baffled why anyone would have thought this was a good thing" comes across, but I wouldn't interpret it charitably if someone said that about a decision I made.

Fair enough @patrik-web but (for starters) no insult was intended. Forgive me here but generally it's best to apply Hanlon's razor. Maybe I'm an assh𝗈le, but maybe I'm just socially inept, or maybe the tone is just «I just found something baffling and in need of fixing in a potentially great app that I use often». Walking around like a raw nerve waiting to be insulted by anything that's not precisely phrased as you like isn't going to get you anywhere.

You or anyone else is free to find insult wherever they like, but (even if it was intended), you can't do anything about someone else's intentions, but you can think «Sure, this person is being unreasonable.. I can't do anything about that or control other people, but is there anything that I can learn from this ?»

Externalizing everything and worrying about or blaming someone for being less than diplomatic does nothing for you, or the person who did or said something you didn't like, and it robs you of an opportunity to improve and grow.

Personally, I'd choose to focus on the content of the message and what's behind it rather than how it was delivered.. but that's just me.

I'm going to end this conversation now, but I want to point out that "choose to focus on the content of the message and what's behind it rather than how it was delivered" is the exact opposite of how you treated mine; I attempted to provide some advice that I think would make suggestions be more positively received by the developers and you interpreted it as a personal attack.

Hi Everyone,

I understand that the copy between projects was under development in June, wanted to see if there was an eta on its launch into the software for use?

Thanks

Have there been any updates on this?  I've been searching the forums and blog posts for more on this topic and all I can find are these old threads requesting the feature and the Fusion team saying that it would be implemented soon.  I even saw an Autodesk University video from 2016 where the lecturer says it's coming soon, but here we are in 2018 and it is not available.  Are there technical reasons for the hold up, or is it more of a matter of priorities?  To the layman (me) it seems like a fairly simple change that would make a big improvement in usability/workflow.
