Kill the grid gradient effect idea. Seriously!

Kill the grid gradient effect idea. Seriously!

Because honestly it is junk:

1. it slows down the system

2. it makes working with the grid difficult

Why do I see the grid where my mouse was (top of the lefy object) and not everywhere on the canvas.

No application does that besides Fusion and when you zoom in out in sketches it can get choppy.

I feel those visual effects are really not a smart idea - it might look pretty or cool but for power users

they are a real pain in the you know what I mean.

Because of visuals (gradient effect, line thickness) I've stopped using grid at all.

@michallach81For me to see the grid at the bottom of the product I needed to move the mouse down so the grid was displayed.

Who seriously thought this is useful?

It's really misleading too because it makes new users believe that they have made an error when really it's just a pointless, cosmetic artifact. It would be better if there was some identifiable logic in its behaviour...

@IanMantula Or just a button to turn it on or off.

The Grid system in Fusion can have such a heavy screen redraw impact it is not funny even anymore.

I made a similar suggestion back in November 2014, but somehow nobody cared back then...

I think this "fog of war" is one of the most stupid things in Fusion360. A grid is essential for me while designing precise geometry and I need it where I need it, not where a UI-designer thinks I might need it...

@MartinMajewskiBlenders grid system kills Fusion hands down in both speed and being flexible.

A simple adaptive yet fast grid is possible - nut sure why this was not tackled.

This is also a sore spot since Fusion was released and that is some years ago now.

Perfomance issues are one of the really big painful experiences.

This always struck me as a bug - can't believe that it's actually intended behavior.

Performance aside, not being able to see the grid and not always being able to snap to it are major annoyances that should be fixed ASAP

Thank you for your idea, this has been a topic that we have been discussing internally.  Once a decision is made on how to proceed, the idea status will be changed accordingly.

Moving this to Future Consideration.  This one IS on our radar, but we don't want to leave it in an 'Under Review' state until we have an opportunity to begin work.  We'll change the status once we get started.

Thanks,

Charles

The new grid implementation is much better. Thanks you for the change.
