F360 is seriously awesome, but it seems like there is always some small fundamental issue keeping me from being able to actually use it.
Before it was crashing all the time. That (finally) seems to be fixed, but recently it's been navigating around a design.
That has been annoying but serviceable with some pain, but yesterday and today, my trackpad stopped working entirely for orbiting, panning, and pinch-to-zoom.
I'm not being hyperbolic when I say this is show-stopper bad.
F360 team - I understand that you have many priorities and people pulling you in different directions, but where I used to say «stability should be the number one priority», I'd now say «usable navigation should be the number one priority».
Part of that should just be making sure that the trackpad always works. It stopping seems to be a chronic problem. In the past, at least, I could minimise and restore the window and it'd come back, but these last few times, I've had to shutdown and restart the app (which takes a pretty significant chunk of time each cycle).
Beyond that, there is just something fundamentally wrong with how trackpad panning works that desperately needs to be fixed.
At regular zoom, it already takes a few full left-to-right two-finger swipes to move something from the left edge of the screen to the right. One pinch and it's twice that. Two and twice again (that's to say 4x the ~3 passes at default zoom, so 12 full left to right two finger swipes to move one screen width; if you do anything requiring even minimal precision, that's insanely frustrating and wastes an absurd amount of time - not to mention it's horribly un-ergonomic because it requires a huge amount of repetitive hand motion where a tiny bit would do).
Trackpad panning should be scaled such that whatever the zoom level, a two-finger pan moves the same amount of screen space (ideally one left-to-right swipe per screen, by default, with user adjustable scaling for comfort and precision from there).
Orbiting is now at least semi-sane (though it could still use a lot of work; just not nearly so much as the above)
Please, please, please fix these things.
Just like instability, no matter what anybody is doing in the app, it's a huge source of frustration and wasted time and it renders something that's otherwise amazing almost unusable.
Also note I use a trackpad but have confirmed these issues are present with a mouse too so please don't dismiss this as just a whiny person who wants to use what you consider the wrong user interface device
