Toolpath scattering?!

Hi there

I really didn't know how to call this or for what to search:

img2.PNGimg1.PNG

Why is stuff like this happening? Its a normal radius with a defined end? But why is it making the toolpath all over the place and not in straigh lines like more to the left?

It is only happening with one of the two radius (raidai?) The other one looks fine, and behaves like I want it to.

Any advice

Hi @Anonymous can you share model so that I can investigate it? In the mean time you can adjust Tolerance/Smoothing tolerance settings to see if it will help.

Some more examples of path I don't understand why they are like they are...

This is only assembly file without any components. I cannot check underlying geometry or re-generate toolpath without component files. Could you please attach those as well?

oh totally forgot that...

The two setups youo see, are the trys I did so far, wich both weren't really how I desired them.

I still think it should be possible to usea operation like ramp (spiraling) but with 5axis support, so that the shaft doesn't touch the wall.

Disclaimer: There is no fixture component file, so I turned it off in Setup, hence my findings may turn out to be not true in case if fixture is used.

Geometry is correctly extracted for toolpath calculation. Your issue appears to be numerical effect which goes away if you use tighter tolerances. I set them to 0.001 and 0.0005  for tolerance and smoothing tolerance respectively which results in better toolpath. That can be "quick and dirty" fix for your problem.

On other hand, I have a feeling that you need to adjust different set of settings (or maybe use different strategy altogether) for operation "Schlichten Auswurf Radien simu" - that wall is very steep, so I think changing tool orientation may provide better results at the end. I do not have any suggestions at the moment as I need to play with it a little bit more to figure out if there is better approach. I will let you know if I find anything.
