Peck Tapping on Siemens 840D controller

Hi,

I'm using solidworks 2022 educational version (I work at a university), and I am trying to peck tap on a XYZ 1020 VMC, the controller is a Siemens 840D sl. I have been using the post built into HSMworks 'siemens-840d_RT' and the posted code is all in sinumeric speak as opposed to FANUC. I read somewhere you can run in ISO mode by adding G291 at the start of the program and G290 at the end, but not entirely sure how this works? Any advice on this would be great.

The main reason for the post is to get the peck tapping working, I have attached two images to show what information I'm inputting and also the error message I receive when trying to post. I have gone through a post from 2016 'Rigid tap with pecking cycle for Siemens 840D' >>> https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/hsm-post-processor-forum/rigid-tap-with-pecking-cycle-for-siemens-840... which states the post had been fixed. I tried this post but get the same error message. anyone know where I'm going wrong?

Any help much appreciated

Paolo

Hi @p.lo-giudice

by default the Siemens post does not support an accumulated peck depth if it's smaller thant the hole depth.

So, you can deactivate the accumulated peck depth, but still keeping the peck tapping.

Just enter an accumulated peck depth equal or bigger than the hole depth.

Accumulated peck depth is used for a complete retract out of the hole when the accumulated depth is reached.

it's better if it's a mutiple of the peck depth.

But this function is not supported by all controllers.

Regards.
