Postprocessor for ABB Robotics

We are working on ABB Robotics post processor and we would be happy to get some feedback from the community.

Note that customization might be required in most cases for each specific machine, so please test carefully.

In my opinion I have speciafied the WCS, but maybe I made a mistake.
Can you tell me what's wrong?

Thank you,

Hi @stefaan.vancampenhout ,

I think you have to define a proper value of WCS Offset.

It has to be different from zero and it is related to Work Object Coordinate System defined on ABB robot :

WCS ABB.png

Please note that you can download from the Post Library a specific User Guide for ABB postprocessor :

https://cam.autodesk.com/posts/posts/guides/abb_autodesk.pdf

Please tell me if it works.

Regards,

Hello Andrea,

Yes. It works now.
I found the settings for the WCS (although the pictures in the manual are not as in my version of HSM)
Thank you for your reply.

We have tried this on our lab robot for routing. It would be nice if it used the MoveC command for circles, instead of all linear points. It would also be very nice to have a post that would utilize ABB ArcWare, Robotware Cutting. This would allow for the use of process speeds, instead of move speeds. ArcLStart, ArcL, ArcC, ArcLEnd.

Hi @Anonymous ,

we have already add ArcL function in the newer version of ABB post we will release soon. It is under test.

We will add your request about MoveC function. Thank you.

Hello,

I have tried the ABB cps, and seems that there is no function for touch probe included, is there anybody that could add this function? Or can help me out ?

Thank you

Hello @victor_fratu ,

for the moment our ABB postprocessor does not consider probing cycles.

My first suggestion would be to read on the 'Post Processor Training Guide' the probing chapters, starting from page 8-196. Here you can find a detailed description on how add probing support in your postprocessor.

Can I ask you how many and which probing cycles you would like to use on your robot?

Hello Andrea,

Thank you for your suggestion and support.

We would like to use one ABB robot with the same function as a CNC machine,

therefore we will need to integrate only one of the touch probe from Renishaw LP2H, as we start developing

the program, we noticed that ABB Post Processor does not have this probe function, we will try to add the probing cycles.

Best regards

ABB has an own software called shopfloor HMI to handle probes and stock calibration.

Hello,

My company is trying to vet out if Fusion is a good choice to run our 2 ABB robots. We machine sculptures with a spindle attached to the robot.

We have two ABB rotary tables en route and they will be installed shortly.
If we purchase the Machining addon for Fusion to do 4th axis rotary toolpaths does the ABB post have the ability to handle the rotary table as an additional axis?
