A Fusion 360 Post Processor for Maslow CNC

A Fusion 360 Post Processor for Maslow CNC

Hello!

We are Maslow CNC a community driven open source project to make ultra low cost (~$500) 4'x8' CNC routers accessible.

We're big fans of how Fusion 360 is making CAD accessible to more people and we were hoping that we could add a post processor to Fusion 360 to make it easier for our community to use.

Ultimately we want the most bland of gcode with only XYZ movements in the XY plane using the G0, G1, and G2 commands. We have a very active community and we would love to test and provide feedback for any post processor.

Thanks for your time and everything you guys at Fusion do!

You can find out more about us from our website www.MaslowCNC.com and the original post which prompted this request can be found here: https://forums.maslowcnc.com/t/very-frustrated-and-overwhelmed-with-software-fusion360/1012

We are looking into it right now.

Do you have any specifications regarding the needed nc output?

Maybe you got sample nc files to share?

I have had Great results on several small projects ( Flat Pack stool and P9S Stool from instructables) using the Maslow post.

Hi!  I see that the last update to the processor was 2 days ago?  How close are you to officially releasing it for the community?  What do you mean by "won't work for any particular purpose?"

I'm in the process of teaching myself how to create machine paths and generate g-code and have been using Grbl.  Do you recommend another?  My current project involves pocketing out between many irregular shapes.

Stupid question alert:

How do we get this into our 360 program?

Also  wanted to mention that even though this tutorial seems to be correct, Fusion wont recognize the Maslow Post processor. My guess is it's somehow my fault lol.

Just a small update on loading in a Post Processor if anyone else hasnt done this before.

The tutorials I looked up online were out of date considering the new changes to Fusion360's UI.

You will need the *.cps file referenced in the link posted above. It appears this is still being maintained and updated.

First, in the "Manufacture" workspace select the "Manage" dropdown from the tool bar.

Select "Post Library".

In the left folder tree select "Local".

In the top toolbar, you will find an "Import" icon. Upload the previously downloaded *.cps file.

Bingo.

Using the Maslow CNC post processor constantly fails during post processing for some reason (keeps outputting ".nc.failed" files).. any fix needed in the cps file?

I have tried many different stock and Toolpaths settings but every time the resulting Gcode shows the Z going to positive values when they should be negative.

For anyone on the internet who ran across this, I was able to load the post processor using the links above.

My question is about the machine library--there is no Maslow:

https://cam.autodesk.com/machineslist

If it is not necessary to find the machine, are there any parameters/config options that we should be taking into consideration--feed and speeds, etc.? Or as is suggested in this video, they are overriden by the post processor.

Thanks
